JCI CABATUAN 30TH PEARL ANNIV

This year, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cabatuan celebrates its 30th founding anniversary. This evening, the three decades old non-government organization, commenced the celebration honoring past presidents. It was followed by the induction of officers and turn-over ceremonies and was concluded with the induction of baby Jaycees.

Originally, JCI Cabatuan was known as the Cabatuan “Gintong Butil” Jaycees at the time of its conception in 1990. National Vice President for Cagayan Valley, JCI Sen. Cecile M. Dy, of the Cauayan “Nasudi” Jaycees was instrumental for the birth of the new LOM (Local Organization Movement). JCI Mem. Teresita San Pedro, LOM President of Cauayan “Nasudi” extended its chapter to Cabatuan town. The first members were: Ralph Antolin, Deanna M. Constantino-Apostol, Amelia Flor R. Gozum-Carreon, Beatriz B. Dacuycuy, Noli L. Co, Bernardo A. Garcia, Jr., Sylvia R. Gozum-De Guzman, Milgrace F. Isidro, Franklin P. Macugay, Maxima P. Fuerte-Salvador, Eduardo G. Passe, Nicanor R. Santos and Victor J. Santos.

JCI Mem. Bernardo A. Garcia, Jr. was elected head but the official inducted president was JCI Mem. Nicanor R. Santos. Some of the awards received by the organization were: Outstanding New LOM of the Year (1992), Outstanding LOM President of the Year (1992 Maxima F. Salvador), and The Outstanding NGO of Isabela by the DILG (1999).
                                                                                                                                                   
 
 
Cabatuan “Gintong Butil” Jaycees received two international awards, namely:  Outstanding New LOM of the Asia-Pacific (1992) and Outstanding New LOM of the World (1992).

JCI Sen. Troy Alexander G. Miano was bestowed The Outstanding Councilor of the Philippines (TOCP) Award in 2013. TOCP is one of the national projects of JCI Philippines which gives due recognition to outstanding local law makers in the city and municipal level.

 
From 1990 to 2008, the organization was name JCI Cabatuan “Gintong Butil”. In 2004, another JCI emerged from the original chapter and was named JCI Cabatuan “Ambatuan”. In 2009, Gintong Butil and Ambatuan united to form “JCI Cabatuan”.

JCI Cabatuan Gintong Butil had the following presidents: JCI Mem. Nicanor R. Santos (1990), JCI Mem. Beatriz Dacuycuy (1991), JCI Mem. Maxima F. Salvador (1992), JCI Mem. Victor J. Santos (1993), JCI Mem. Romualdo D. Reyes (1994), JCI Mem. Gabriel Salazar (1995), JCI Mem. Jesse C. Suguitan (1996), JCI Mem. Patchy M. Labuguen (1997), JCI Mem. Milgrace F. Isidro-Navarro (1997), JCI Mem. Ma. Charito T. Acosta (1998), JCI Mem. Troy Alexander G. Miano (1999), JCI Mem. Mercy Fuerte-Cuade (2000), JCI Mem. Mercedita B. Agustin-Angangan (2001), JCI Mem. Cid A. Dayrit (2002-2003), JCI Mem. Rosemarie Angobung-Santos (2004), JCI Mem. Leni Sagmakin (2005), JCI Mem. Vilma Alivia (2006), JCI Mem. Angelo Rivera (2007) and JCI Mem. Nonito B. Bautista (2008).

JCI Ambatuan had the following presidents: JCI Mem. Jesusa M. Fernandez-San Pedro (2005), JCI Mem. Randy M. Cadiente (2006), JCI Mem. Rizza S. Galiza-Pascual (2007) and JCI Mem. Romulo B. Chavez, Jr. † (2008).

JCI Cabatuan had the following presidents: JCI Mem. Michelle Visaya-Montano † (2009 & 2010), JCI Mem. Kris Arah A. De Belen (2011), JCI Mem. Jasmin C. Lapuz-Miano (2012), JCI Mem. Chanda D.C. Talimada-Dela Cruz (2013 & 2014), JCI Mem. Pamela Ann G. Miano (2015), JCI Mem. Mark Anthony P. Jimenez (2016), JCI Mem. Marie Flores B. Subillaga (2017), ­­­­­­­­­­­­ JCI Mem. Ayana Fae M. Alipio (2018), JCI Mem. Mary Fidelis B. Subillaga (2019) and JCI Mem. Cherry Concetta G. Miano (2020).

Four from JCI Cabatuan served at the national level, namely: JCI Sen. Troy Alexander G. Miano (National Vice President for Cagayan Valley 2003), JCI Sen. Victor J. Santos (National Vice President for Cagayan Valley 2004 & National Executive Vice President for Area-I), JCI Mem. Chanda D.C. Talimada-Dela Cruz (Regional Vice President for Cagayan Valley 2015) and JCI Mem. Marie Flores B. Subillaga (National Chair for Pinay Power 2018).

In the international scene, JCI Sen. Victor J. Santos was Asia Pacific Development Council Officer in Vietnam in 2006.

Furthermore, two are JCI Senators, namely: JCI Sen. Victor J. Santos (No. 64816) and JCI Sen. Troy Alexander G. Miano (No. 76649). Both are also Jake Gonzalez Fellows (JGF).

For the past three decades, JCI Cabatuan continues to tie up with other sectors in the community to implement programs which includes: medical & dental missions, supplemental feeding, blood-letting, clean-up, regreening, distribution of books and other information education materials and fund raising and donations to calamity victims. JCI is popular for its leadership trainings conducted by pool of trainors from the national and international JCI.

JCI Cabatuan is a chapter of the Junior Chamber International Philippines (JCIP) better known as Philippine Jaycees, Inc. It is registered under the laws of the Republic of the Philippines and an affiliate of Junior Chamber International (JCI), Worldwide Federation of Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs. Its mission is to contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, social responsibility and fellowship necessary to create positive change. It has a membership of over 6,000 young adults between 18 to 40 years old from 200 local organizations (LOMs) or chapters throughout the Philippine archipelago.

Today, whenever JCI members from other chapters in the country visits Cagayan Valley, they make it a point to visit the JCI Cabatuan headquarters in the heart of the town at the residence of Past President JCI Mem. Milgrace “Gette” Navarro. This local organization, despite the up and downs, continues to be of service to the community and maintains its socio activeness in the Cabatuan landscape. For the past 30 years, it has also molded leaders in the community which produced one mayor (C. Dayrit) and nine municipal councilors (F. Macugay, A. Carreon, J. Suguitan, T. Miano, C. Dayrit, B. Garcia, J. Miano, B. Dy & P. Labuguen) and all of them adhered to the JCI tenets that “Service to humanity is the best work of life”.
