JCI CABATUAN 30 TH PEARL ANNIV Dr. Troy Alexander G. Miano 22 February 2020 This year, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cabatuan celebrates its 30 th founding anniversary. This evening, the three decades old non-government organization, commenced the celebration honoring past presidents. It was followed by the induction of officers and turn-over ceremonies and was concluded with the induction of baby Jaycees. Originally, JCI Cabatuan was known as the Cabatuan “Gintong Butil” Jaycees at the time of its conception in 1990. National Vice President for Cagayan Valley, JCI Sen. Cecile M. Dy, of the Cauayan “Nasudi” Jaycees was instrumental for the birth of the new LOM (Local Organization Movement). JCI Mem. Since the year 2000, this special day promotes linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our tangible and intangible heritage. However, according to the United Nations, “every two weeks a language disappears taking with it an entire cultural and intellectual heritage. At least 43% of the estimated 6,000 languages spoken in the world are endangered. Only a few hundred languages have genuinely been given a place in education systems and the public domain, and less than a hundred are used in the digital world.”   It reminds me of my childhood days whenever I go home for vacation in Isabela, I hear different dialects. Miano 12 February 2020 The Province of Nueva Vizcaya conducted the 1 st Nueva Vizcaya Culture and Arts Summit held at the FTM Food Fiesta in the capital town of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya and I was fortunate to be sent by my big boss to deliver a lecture regarding Bambanti Festival: Sharing the Best Practices. The activity was part of the celebration of National Arts Month. One of the highlights of the summit was the recognition of a Bugkalot couple from Barangay Pelaway, Municipality of Alfonso Castañeda of this province. Resolution Nos. 2019-10 and 2019-11 were passed by the Nueva Vizcaya Council for Culture and the Arts chaired and presided by Governor Carlos M. BAMBANTI FESTIVAL IN NUEVA VIZCAYA Dr. Troy Alexander G. Miano 12 February 2020 The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya led by Governor Carlos M. Padilla requested the Province of Isabela to share its best practices in culture and the arts particularly the multi-awarded Bambanti Festival. I was instructed by the Governor through the Provincial Administrator to represent the province during the 1 st Nueva Vizcaya Culture and Arts Summit held at the FTM Food Fiesta in the capital town of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. The one-day forum discussed the challenges, goals and outcomes for the culture and arts sector of the province. Miano 29 January 2020           The year 2020, particularly the month of January, commenced with international and national issues coupled with both natural and man-made disasters. Starting from the Jakarta flood, killing of Qasem Soleimani, earthquake in Davao del Sur, OFW murder in Kuwait, continuing bushfire in Australia until the fateful Sunday of January 12 when the country’s second most active volcano once again erupted. With the alert level of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) escalating from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 4, the Sunday afternoon eruption transpired from the main crater on Volcano Island. The eruption spewed ashes to Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and as far as some parts of Central Luzon and the Ilocos Region.
