Aquino in 1991 with the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) as the lead agency for the annual celebrations. This year, National Arts Month, also called Ani ng Sining, plays with the theme “Alab-sining, Alay-sigla,” which aims to provide opportunities for artists to harness their creative energies in uplifting the nation’s spirit, especially during this time of public health crisis. Cauayan City Mayor Bernard Faustino M. Dy through the Sanggunian Committee on Tourism chaired by Councilor Garry G. Galutera, invited this representation to grace the city’s kick-off ceremony and deliver

Tolentino, requested for my appearance on the soft opening and dedication of the Red Theodore Bonsai Flower Farm in Purok 3, Barangay San Miguel wherein a collection of over 300 bonsai plants are showcased. There was a jolt of excitement since I always enjoyed seeing Japanese inspired dwarfed trees. Edward T. Domingo, the owner of the Red Theodore, also owns the CVOil gas station (formerly Caltex) which is a lot away from my abode in Cabatuan. Originally from San Mateo town, his daughter, Christiansen (Chrissen), was crowned Miss Teen Cabatuan in 2010 and Miss Isabela (forerunner of Queen Isabella) in 2011 and his ol

Before my speech, Governor Rodolfo “Rodito” T. Albano III, Vice Governor Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III and Congressman Allan U. Ty arrived together with Mayor Vilmer B. Bravo to support this new endeavor of the kababaihan of San Isidro. When Vice Governor Dy saw me, he approached me and asked what happened and offered his “Duterte signature fist bump” greeting instead of accepti

I scribbled two other articles honoring two great Filipinos who succumbed to the virus; my cardiologist Dr. Roberto V. Anastacio and my former boss, Senator Heherson T. Alvarez. I never thought of writing another essay on the Corona Virus since I normally pen history-related articles to increase the consciousness of my readers and the netizens on Philippine history, culture and the arts. This time, my article touched not only the pandemic but my experience as a COVID-19 survivor. I am now included in the world statisti

I came to know later that there was no Jones town yet when my lola was born in 1914 and the territory around Addalam was still a part of the old pueblo of Echague. Securing a copy of her birth certificate in 1992 revealed that the document (though destroyed by the liberating American Forces in 1945) was registered under the local government unit of Echague.  After five years, Nanang’s (as we fondly called her) family moved out again and settled

#CagayanNeedsHelp #IsabelaNeedsHelp Dr. Troy Alexander G. Miano 29 November 2020 While the whole nation focused on the worst flooding in Metro Manila, since Tropical Storm Ondoy in 2009, brought about by the powerful and deadly Category 4-equivalent Typhoon Ulysses, a netizen on Facebook, shared a video of residents shouting for help in Barangay Linao East, Tuguegarao City amid massive flooding in Cagayan and Isabela provinces. The hash tag #CagayanNeedsHelp emerged as top trending on social media, including #IsabelaNeedsHelp, after more distressed residents appealed for help. Floods and landslides wreaked havoc in the northern provinces of Cagayan and Isabela on November 13 due to the rains brought by Ulysses, internationally known as Vamco, and earlier typhoons; Pepito, Quinta, Rolly, Siony and Tonyo . The Provincial Government of Isabela (PGI) headed by Governor Rodito Albano who also chairs the country’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) Gawad K
